Student Ministry

Student Ministry

"Students are not the future of the church; they are an integral part of our church family right where they are!"

The middle and high school years are some of the most formative times in our lives. We want the Student Ministries of Ankeny Free Church to be a safe place where our students can discover a real and life changing relationship with Jesus Christ, challenging them to accept God’s purpose for their lives, equipping them to grow in spiritual discernment as they face life’s challenges, and sending them to reach the lost with the gospel of Christ.

Middle School

For sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, Middle School offers biblical teaching as well as small group discussion on Sundays 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. Students also enjoy trips, nights out, retreats, and more as part of the Middle School Calendar.

High School

High School meets on Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. High School engages students in worship, teaching and small group discussions. Day trips, fun nights, retreats, and mission trips are also part of the High School calendar.

Meet Our Youth Director J.D. Abell

My name is J.D. Abell and I joined the staff here at Ankeny Free Church in the fall of 2018. I am excited to help students know and follow Jesus. Everything we do in student ministries is fueled by that thought. On a typical Sunday night, we welcome our students into a fun environment and engage them with the Bible through relevant teaching and then connect even further with them with a small group time with volunteer adult leaders. I have a passion for students to enter into a relationship with Jesus and grow closer to God. A little about myself, I served six years in the Army National Guard; enjoy

deep dish pizza; and traveling with my wife of five years, Kayley and two year old daughter Emma Grace. To find out more about our Student Ministries email me or signup for our weekly Youth ENews below.
